With a bell that big and a receiver that high I'm not sure my fat head could get in there to play it.

Probably not. He plays CC and F . . . doesn't have much need for an Eb.

I agree (not about your head). Seems like a very short space between the two. The design looks pretty odd to me. Would have to play it to determine otherwise. For that price, I’d rather go with a used Willson or the Meinl Weston that’s for sale in the for sale section. Even the Beuscher Eb that Daniel Ridder has for sale. No 5th valve but to be honest, I use the 5th valve on my Willson for only one note so I doubt I would miss it.

Just judging from the brief Wessex video, I think the "Tubby" will have a fatter and darker sound than either the Willson or M-W Eb tubas. I want to at least give the 'Tubby' as a shot. I need to downsize to just one tuba, so I need to choose carefully.

There are 2 very good play-test videos on the new/other website (you don't have to be a member to view them, they're under the Music Chatter category), just posted yesterday and this morning, comparing the 6/4 Wessex with several other Eb tubas. Give a listen when you've got a couple of minutes.
BTW the guy playing in the first video is 6' 8", he had no trouble 'fitting his head' under the bell, says no ergonomic issues.
