So I recently acquired an F tuba of the import variety, based on the Miraphone 180 (don't judge me for the horn - I like it for what it is). That being said, it came with an original "hard" case with a busted zipper that was repaired using a clip system. It works fairly well, but like all such cases, it's remarkably unwieldy. Generally speaking, I prefer gig bags for transport, but the Protec platinum bag I use with my Mack 410 is way too big for this horn (15" bell, height = a lot shorter than a 410). Even trying to kludge the flexible insert doesn't provide enough security to keep it from flopping around.

I know the 180 is not the most common horn and has a mixed reputation on this board, but does anyone have any advice or suggestions on a bag that would fit it, other than the actual Miraphone gig bag for this size? I'll go that route if necessary but I can't say it would be my first choice if there are any other options.

I've got five of them, all are fitting like a glove and after years they still look like new (all in Cordura, you can have them also in leather). They have sturdy leather handles, backpack straps and a roomy compartment for sheet music etc and are still affordable.
Calculate two weeks for making after placing an order.

second on this bag. I've bought 3 in the past year from Thomann and paid less for them than I would buying for a domestic US seller, and that includes VAT and 2-day UPS shipping (with tracking) from Germany.

I can confirm, should the question arise for anyone else in the future, that the 3/4 gig bag from Tuba Exchange is pretty much a perfect fit for a horn this size. Good price, too...
