MW 6450 receiver

Post by Tubaguy5 »

Hey all,
Sorry but I have forgotten what the standard receiver style was for the MW 6450, American or Euro? Can anyone in the hive mind help?

The first ones were Euro and very specifically set up and installed. Later versions came equipped with an interchangeable system with 3 choices.

Cool I think j have the later version, but only one choice. Do you know if they were marked anywhere specifically to denote which one?

Pretty sure each choice of receiver is marked S/M/L, partly for shank size and partly to control the gap between the mouthpiece end and the actual lead pipe beginning.

Most older MW's I've seen are Euro or larger.
But I don't know about that specific model.

When asking Alan about this the new models of 6450 come with three different receivers (American, Euro, and Perantucci shank sizes) in which can be interchanged to dial in the gap. If you only have one of the lead pipes you may consider reaching out to him on how to diagnose. He is VERY responsive to emails.

Euro. Alan believes that CC tubas should have a euro receiver and F tubas should have an American receiver.
