Hi all,
I'm looking for a different compensating euphonium. I'm looking for something on the large side (so not a Willson 2900) and on the dark side (so probably not a Besson) and would like to stay away from any Chinese copies. Hirsbrunner, Adams, Willson 2950, or Miraphone 5050 would get my immediate interest. I'd be open to talking other brands too. (Yamaha 842? Not quite what I'm looking for but I'd consider one at the right price.)
I don't have a price ceiling, but if the price gets too high I'll just buy a new horn.
I currently have a Miraphone 1258 that I could trade, if someone wants to trade their horn for mine and some cash. I generally like my Miraphone - the sound is big and dark, and it's easy to play in all registers - I just have to push the main tuning slide all the way in and I still have to lip up to bring it up to pitch. I don't feel like cutting the main tuning slide or experimenting with mouthpieces, hence the desire for something else.
(If you want to buy the Miraphone outright, let me know, but I'll want to buy a replacement horn first.)
