Miraphone rotor screws

Postby Mark Finley » Wed May 11, 2016 10:08 pm

One of the frustrations of the Chinese tuba is how loose fitting the rotor stop arms are on the valve spindle. I have to tighten down the screw so much to keep the valves from having play in them, that a couple of days ago while I was attempting to fill the gaps with Teflon tape) I twisted the screw head right off

I confirmed today that the good miraphone screws are the same threads as the cheaper Chinese screws, but my local shop doesn't carry them

Where can they be ordered from? Allied? Badger? Only miraphone? Does anybody have a set they will sell me before I special order them?

OK never mind.

I went to Home depot and just picked up some M3x.5 by 8mm screws, and they are fine, just have to remember to add a 2.5mm allen wrech to my tool kit

Need to get some 3mm washers, they just had the next size larger

And before you know it, everyone will be changing out those screws on their horns just so they can be like you, you trend-setter.
