seeking: Humes & Berg Stonelined RECORDING BASS MUTE

Postby bloke » Mon Sep 05, 2016 3:46 pm

This is a re-post.

Dan Schultz was very nice and dug up some stuff for me to make one out of brass...but I would like to have one of the red-and-white fiber ones, if someone has one that they know they'll never use...

...anyone in Austin, TX...??

EDIT: Dan actually even gave me a head start on that project. 8) :D
(How in the world could someone ~not~ like Dan Schultz?)

If only you wanted a red and white straight mute, or bucket mute--then I could fix you up!

If you email or PM me the dimensions, I have a Stonelined tuba mute, but I have no idea what it is meant for. It could be for a recording bell, dunno...
Some old Yorks, Martins and maybe a rotary CC King...

The only pictures I know of are in VERY old H&B brochures (the same ancient brochures that featured a picture of a guy with a crew cut using their "Clarinet Practicer"...a box with sound-dampening crap inside, two armholes, and one clarinet hole).

I believe, though, that the appearance is simply a larger (tuba-sized) version of the curved-bell baritone/euphonium mute:

Nevermind... I hadn't realized they would be THAT obviously for a recording bell.

Sorry for the false hope.
