Mouthpieces pouch/case

Post by francoislaplante »

Hi there!

I have currently 5 mouthpieces that I use frequently. I'm looking for a pouch, a case, a briefcase (anything, really!) to transport them. What do you recommend?

Here's what I found so far:

http://www.musicarts.com/Gard-Quad-Bras ... 619964.mac - This one would be great if it was for more than four mp, and if it was big enough for tuba mouthpieces (I doubt it).

http://www.schmidt-brass.de/images-mund ... 0er-kl.jpg - This one looks great, but is way too expensive...

Do you have any idea where I can find something like that? Thanks!

I find it easiest to use individual pouches, for example the Bach in woven nylon, and I label each with the brand and model I have inside. If I need to carry more than one, I place them in an inexpensive carrier pouch/tasket. This way each mouthpiece is protected even if they are separated (loan to friend, put into tuba case, etc).

I'd be willing to bet money that the Gard case will only hold smaller mouthpieces and not 4 tuba mouthpieces. If you use all five for a single horn and you want to keep them with it/in its case, then perhaps this would work: Protec 6 Woodwind Mouthpiece Case. This is supposed to fit tenor mouthpieces, which are comparable in size to tuba mouthpieces (I used to hold my set of Szentpali Heavyweight mouthpieces in a double tenor sax Protec case and they fit just fine). Otherwise, you might have to do a combination of a triple and a double case, of which there are many options.

Hope this helps.

I use this one: http://www.dillonmusic.com/p-4872-caval ... pouch.aspx" target="_blank it's really great stuff. Other than that, Doug Elliott sells a double pouch that can easily work as a triple.
