				Looking to buy my first F tuba, and would prefer something that would be big enough to support larger ensembles. Looking to spend anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000. In the Louisville kentucky area, and would be willing to drive a couple of hours to test out horns.

				Realistically, you can get a pretty nice Eb for around 2-3k. Any piston F around that price range is probably going to be one thrown together with parts from various tubas, and intonation is going to be wonky. It'd be in your best interest to seek out a 3+1 compensating Besson Eb. It'll play great, and be much more in tune than any 2-3K Piston F.
