Re: 3J Buttons

Post by largobone »

The one on the right looks like a King 2340/2341 button. I'm not sure what they're doing on your 3J, but you can probably get some replacement buttons from Conn-Selmer for an arm and a leg, or perhaps you could find them on Dawkes Music or something for less.

I'll look through the button collection and see what I have.

That one does look like a 2341 button, but it is much smaller than one of those. I believe it is a modern 5J button. But when I look at pictures of a modern 5J, it has felt on the valve cap, where my 1979 3J does not, so there must be some difference. I would contact Conn/Selmer but they have done a good job of not being contactable and make it clear they don't give a flying crap about older instruments. I believe that the button on the right in my pictures is original.

Thanks for looking into your collection edsel.
