WTB: approx 1.04 in. Ferrule - solution found

Postby YORK-aholic » Wed Dec 27, 2017 1:45 am

Please disregard until further notice, I think I have a solution.

I'm looking for a ferrule with an ID in the range of 1.02"-1.06". If anyone has one, I'd gladly pay you for it, shipping, and for the time it takes to look through the "Orphan Ferrule Drawer".

If I don't have one, what about some bugle tubing that could be cut at the right place?

iiipopes: Well, it isn't a stock application. Its to join to pieces right after the dogleg, but before the first 180 bend...

Mark: Yes, that will be my fall back solution. Before that will be trying my hand at spinning one on my lathe. Now that I think of it... A piece of 1" ID brass pipe, hmmm... The outside contours of the other ferrules are very simple.

Please disregard until further notice.

Sorry, I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.

There is the little problem that my lathe is for wood, not metal, but that's a minor detail...

Why not take a slightly smaller piece of tubing, anneal thoroughly, and hammer lightly over a mandrel until it's stretched to the size you want? Quick and easy.
