Hello all,

Looking to buy a conn orchestral grand (fixed bell and 4v FA). Already have 3 conn 24J's and a 20j, but looking for the 6/4 version of my 4/4 tuba.

May also consider a conn 16V sarrusophone instead...

In a former lifetime, I owned a 1921 Conn "Grand Orchestra". Harvey Hartman ("Harv's Happy Horns"), did a beautiful restoration, with help from Nate Griffith. Great-playing instrument, but ergonomically not right for me. I sold it to a gent in the UK, who has since resold it. At one time it was pictured on "Conn Loyalist" or maybe "Horn-U-Copia", although I could not find it after brief search today. No leadpipe on that Conn...?

Funny. Never noticed that in this photo. Thanks for pointing it out~!

Harvey always adjusted the leadpipe position to optimize my lung capacity and to minimize stress on my neck. So this photo must have been taken at the "nearly-finished" stage.

Does have cleaner lines this way, don't you think? P.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but what work did Nate Griffith do for it? He's just up in Omaha (I'm in Lincoln). I've interviewed him before for an instrument repair course I took.

Nate built two new valves from scratch. Beautiful work.
