WTB Conn 3v Bb bell up tuba

Post by Todd »

Hello. I would like to find a .734 bore conn tuba with an 18" or 20" bell with decent to good intonation. So not one of those 20 or 24js with the .774 or something like that bore. I play traditional jazz, so that level of good intonation.
Will consider a 4v but since Ive never used 4v I would just prefer a 3v,
I don't want any of those "not really a conn" horns, as in nothing made after 1969 when Conn started to shut down and move.
Im prettie open about the condition.

Okay thanks for your replies

Dillon Music has an old Conn-made stencil tuba -- 'Tone King' BBb tuba that seems perfect for what you are looking for: https://www.dillonmusic.com/used-tone-king-bbb-tuba/
Looks to be refurbished/overhauled sometime in the past, and has a great price on it :!:

You may also keep your eyes peeled on ebay or here for a Conn 10j. 10j tubas pop up every now and then -- usually beat up with creased/crushed bells. But a decent tech should be able to fix em good.
They have an 18" bell and .695" valveset bore. Slightly smaller than that 'Tone King' tuba at Dillon's, but a larger valveset bore than the other 'small' Conn tubas.
