I have a 1912 Martin Renowned Eb. It is the large size horn which I got for $20 a long time back. I've had Lee Stofer tune it to 440 and redo the valves. It still needed the main water key fixed and the original receiver did not fit a mouthpiece well. Last week, I had a modern receiver put on and the water key repaired. I also had the valves alined. Boy, did those things make a difference in how the horn plays and sounds. I know this isn't exciting or unusual to do, but it does show small changes can make a difference. I also had the valves alined on my Conn 28K (pictured in my avatar). That made a big difference too. I have a new neck pipe on order for the 28K. The old one is a bit bent up.
Now my tech friend is focusing on my 1906 York 640. That should be ready in about a month.
