Absolutely.
Been done many times with trombones over the years, sometimes sold right out-of-the-box interchangeable slide/valve sections.

I''m not looking for a valve tenor trombone, I'm looking for a valve BASS trombone.

If you have any suggestions about who makes them please let me know. I only know of Cervany, near impossible to find the the US.

(Yes, I'm also looking at cimbassi, but this thread isn't about cimbassi)

Actually I have a friend who as offered to do it if I get the parts. I myself don't have the skills.

I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who has attempted this. Right off the bat I'm concerned about the horn being front heavy. The bass trombone, as is, is quite well balanced and can be fully supported with the left hand. I don't like the idea of the horn being held up with the valve hand but I don't know if there is a way to get around that, short of a cimbasso-like wrap.

A school I used to teach at had 3 new King trombones with both a slide and a valve section.

I know these exist in tenor horns. I'm looking for a valve bass trombone.

I have a 3 valve miraphone euph I would sell cheap if you are interested. I just compared the valve size to the valve section of my bass trombone, and it's perfect.

Perhaps. I would prefer piston, but this partly depends on who builds the instrument. Has to be .562 bore. I will keep this in mind.

It's way low in my list of projects, but I have all the stuff to do this in a box.

I've thought about this but you'd have to think of a way to be able to play in tune when using both valve sections. Depending on what bass bell you use I'd also consider a .590 piston valve section.

I think there's too many ergonomic issues with more than 3 valves in this orientation. An upright valve section is better and with something this small an upright horn is even better. A 3 valve horizontal F or Eb bass trombone with 1 slide kicker would be fun to play and relatively useful. Maybe something shaped like a marching tuba could work. My valved bass is a 3 valve Eb instead of F so I can play low Bb.

As you may remember, I have inquired about this instrument, and I think it is a viable option.

However, it would require more parts and more work than adding a valve section to an existing bass trombone.

I like the idea of an Eb instrument, which I don't get with the bass trombone, and I like the upright configuration.
