Hello all,
We've seen a lot of 20k sousas in all kinds of dress. Raw brass, candy apple with the "tats" on the bell, basically all kinds of finishes.
My question is about the horns that have a lot of polished silver on the bell face and slides and such, but the bulk of the tubing was painted silver from the factory. Was there a particular color or type of paint that Conn used?
Thanks

Re: 20K finishes
I ASSUMED painted. I played a 20K all thru high school and always had the silver to polish, but the satin finish never tarnished. The back of the bell was satin also, with the Conn herald and necked lady bright silver. I really wish I had my old horn (like having your old high school car back .
This picture posted by "bloke" a while back gives an idea of the finish that was on my old horn. I know this horn isn't a 20k...
