really excited to see how this goes! I've done this with special vintage saxophones before and I'd love to get my hands on a tuba like that and do a "restomod" to it

Assuming an instrument is worthy of such a restoration, there's nothing like REPLACING worn-out parts (vs. "rebuilding" them).
Yep, rebuilding would have been ok for museum purposes, but I want to actually play this tuba!

Just keep the old parts in case somebody wants to "restore" the tuba rather than play it.
