Sousaphone Whaley Royce cutting

Postby Etienne1006 » Wed Oct 24, 2018 3:18 pm

Hi!

I would like to try and cut an Eb sousaphone to F. If anybody has done and documented their process, would be glad to see that.

Also, I spotted a local sousaphone for sale. Here's the picture. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ffrwvfy81o6mw9m/Screenshot_20181024-154523_Kijiji.jpg?dl=0

I'm not sur if there is a complete loop of tubing before the valveset. It would make the cut easy! Anybody know if it is? Have you seen sousas like that?

Thanks

That is part of the body, should be a tapered branch.

Most Eb sousaphones offer difficult intonation.
If this one offers pretty-good intonation, I would be completely afraid to hacksaw it, were it mine.
Finally - if cut, from where will you obtain (perhaps one of the "top two" sousaphone pitches) a low Bb ?

' sorry to spam your thread by a "don't do it" posting, but...
