Bob, I think the 4 grand was a deposit until the first batch of horns were ready, and not the total price. Nonetheless, here is your chance to get what you have been talking about for the last year!

Actually I want a Miraphone contra. Since I probably won't be able to play either well, I may as well go for the cheaper one! :D
The $4000 figure was something Steve Ferguson put on his website pre-production. As I recall, by the time the prototype was built and when he actually took orders, the price had risen to $6000, with a 10% discount if you paid in advance (that's what I recall anyway, and my memory is pretty good). Meanwhile, while the horn was being designed and manufactured, the euro had skyrocketed, and a new Haag, Rath or Thein would now run you about twice what that Kanstul contrabass sold on ebay.
