Does this look familiar?

Post by J.c. Sherman »

Is it just me, or does this look a little like the old King solid-bell monster?!?

Looks like a 191 with a weird first valve slide.

That gold plating is pretty random. To me, it looks like a mistake...

Is that gold plating or lacquered brass? Is that silver plating or nickel? Either way, this is not a clone.

My bad... I don't know the 191 well ;-) The coil after the tuning slide and the bell shape is what had my attention. Thanks all!

However, I'd be surprised if the gold touches weren't lacquer - gold is REALLY pricey these days.

Check out (not the removable slides, but) the elbows and female slides (connected to the valveset). That stuff is CC length, and the removable slides have extra long ferrule "extensions" on them to make them BBb length.
I'll be damned! You're right as usual!

The 191 and the 291 do share the same valve block...

Close, but not really...I don't have time to post them, but check out the difference between the fourth valve slide. The 191 was here long before the 291, as well.
