Olds from Czechoslovakia?

Post by imperialbari »

The odd history of post 1980-Olds has been touched upon earlier. Locations like The Netherlands and New Jersey have been mentioned.

I follow the brasses on Australian eBay not because I buy from there, but because this very dedicated brass band nation has a few twists in its import patterns compared to other countries of my interest. It has at least one Yamaha trumpet made for the specific AUS market and there are different Asian stencil names.

I have a suspicion this one:

being an Olds stencil, even if this is not specifically mentioned nor illustrated.

Comments?

I may have made an error, but not the one you indicate.

The first letter in the engraving looked like an O to me. I am less sure now.

I noticed the engraving (cheap laser engraving) appeared to start with an 'O', too. However... it does not look like any 'Olds' engraving I've ever seen. There were a lot of odd names stenciled in Czechoslovakia. 'Omega' sounds like a good candidate.

That isn't Olds. There are lots of people that have made horns for Olds; Cerveny, Weril and Schenkellars (now Adams in Holland). Those are the ones that I know of for LOW BRASS. I am not sure where the other instruments are made.
