For awhile, they experimented with adjustable valve paddles. Apart from that, this horn has NOT been treated very well.

Those paddles are pretty cool. I have had some experience with them on a similar 188-5U CC in gold brass. The springs are adjustable so you can add or remove tension by turning a screw. The covers over the stop arms are just decorative.
