Why do scammers like $1600?

Also, are those pictures off of eBay, from a listing by Quinn the Eskimo? It sure looks like it...

Those are not the scumbag's feet. They are not his photos. That is Quinn the Eskimo, if I recall, from an ad about four years ago. He is in California and is a very big eBayer of brass and of corps equipment. He is solid and honest. (Actually, they may be feet of Quinn's friend. Who knows? But the scumbag remains invisible.)

Isn't he in Seattle?
Also, looks like he still uses the same backdrop.

A Very Suspicious CraigsLister wrote:Hello,

Thank you for your interest in my Yamaha YCB-822S Custom CC Tuba 4/4 SIZE. My asking price is $1,600.00. From the beginning I want to tell you that I work for "Save The Children Foundation" and a couple of days ago I left US with my family and came to United Kingdom where I will stay for the next 6 months. I thought I'll sell it before I left US, but I couldn't. I had to take it with me because I had nowhere to leave it there.

Even if I'm here you can buy it without problems. For this I suggest we use BDES Delivery to handle this in the safest way possible. I will pay all shipping fees.

Thanks,
Adam

Anyone here know Adam Orlow (adam68orlow)? This guy is such a scammer. On his very first email he is already attempting to get the ideas of an international financial transaction and "my preferred delivery service" on the table. All he left out was how his agent will take care of all of it for us, and oh yeah, I need to wire him the money via Western Union.

Right.

I will keep in contact with this guy and try to run him around as much as possible. I resent him trying to play the nice guy card as an employee of "Save the Children Foundation" so I will be merciless. I will also contact Quinn and let him know that his couch and feet are part of a scam.

NEVER get into an international sale via craigslist. Never, ever use an escrow service. I use the escrow services of a large, well-known BANK. Never, ever, ever, ever send money via Western Union. It is untraceable and once it is picked up it is GONE; you lose.

the elephant wrote:I am very excited to get this tuba! How do we proceed with this transaction? How long do you think shipping will take and how much will it cost via this BDES Delivery? Do I need to set up anything or will you do that? Are BDES new? I have never seen them in my state.

Also, can you send me a couple of photos so I can see the specific sub-model this horn is? (Yamaha changed some minor things over the past few years and want to confirm which version it is. A photo of the main tuning slide leg ends will tell me if it is the newer version. Also, can you send me a photo of the case bottom? They altered the hinges and the new ones are not quite as desirable because the shell cracks near the hinges. Seeing which hinge is on the case will tell me which shell material they used. The horn with the less desirable case happens to be the more desirable tuba!

I look forward to dealing with you. I have the funds set aside here at the house and am ready to convert them into whatever form of payment you need.

Save the Children, huh? EXCELLENT! Which office do you work out of? Who is your boss? My sister works for them in Africa, but was trained in London. What a wonderful group! You should be proud of what you do for these children. Good for you, sir!

Email me back when you get the chance so we can discuss the money end of things and you can explain the shipping.

Regards,

Wade

Hmm. I recognise that photo of the tuba still in the bag from quite a while ago.

If I recall correctly, Quinn sold that tuba (using those photos) on eBay in 2007 or so...
