Bb or C?

Postby Tubajug » Thu Aug 02, 2012 2:38 pm

Can anyone tell by the pictures if this is in Bb or C? The guy says it's a 5J but also says it's in C. I don't know if he's got his model number mixed up or his key. I sent him a question, but haven't heard back yet.

I think it's a CC but certainly not a 5J. It's whatever the CC version of a 4J is. Maybe a 3J??? or 2J???

The bells on those horns are very similar. It wouldn't be out of the question for the bell to say 5J.

By-the-way.... the Conn Loyalist isn't much help identifying these horns since the model numbers were recycled since the 20's & 30's.

Look at the compact loop of the inner smaller-bore bows.

I'm about as certain as I can be that it is a C instrument.
