LOTS of Sousaphones for sale... how about 27!

Post by Bandmaster »

I keep an eye on a surplus auction website from time to time because I found a few good deals there over the years. I didn't want to make it too public because the prices might go up, but there are just too many sousaphone for sale right now to keep it quiet any longer. Apparently the Florida State University Marching Band is clearing out their instrument room and has 27 silver plated, well used Sousaphones for sale on this website. 17 King Sousaphones, 2 Conn 20K Sousaphones and 8 Yamaha Sousaphones, many with cases too. For you guys that live in the southern U.S. near Florida and are looking for some horn to buy cheap and fix up for resale this is the mother lode! Except for one horn, they all appear to be complete with no missing parts other then the bits. View them at the link below:

Some of those sousa bodies and bells are mismatched. Look carefully. The Yamaha sousas should all have the 'one-piece-brazed' bells with them. It's interesting how they changed some of the bracing over the years on those, particularly with the goosneck section.
There are some missing valves, valve buttons, valve stems, valve caps, if you look at all the pics. Be aware of that.

I live too far away and don't have the money anyway. Otherwise, I would be interested in those Yamaha and King sousas. :tuba:
