4 Valve York Master Recording Bell in Louisville

1 grand seems like a good price to me as long as the valves are in good shape. Cool tuba!

I'd be checking it out in person instead of posting about it if I didn't already own something this size...

Interesting, how it's listed as a "York" on the website, while it is obviously a "York Master".

Supporting this is the lack of a photo of the engraving....

If the "average schmuck" is looking to buy a tuba and doesn't know the difference, they can be excused for such, and then they should educate themselves a little, because there is a difference.

I've seen some of our Sponsors misrepresent instruments and not know the difference between certain instruments.

It's not much of a stretch. Besides, those that would be interested in this York already know the difference between the two...

Please forgive me for being a stickler, but actually, yes it is a stretch.

B & M (German-made) York Master = (approximate) copy, made in a different location, by different people, of a genuine Grand Rapids, U.S.A. York 716

If that's not much of a stretch, then maybe this isn't, either:

Jinbao (Chinese-made) JCBC 410 = (much closer) copy, made in a different location, by different people, of a genuine Waldkraiburg, Germany Miraphone 186

Also, I'm going to assert that there are people who don't, at sight (especially in blurry pictures) know the difference between the two and could easily be disappointed at receiving something that isn't what they had expected.

A copy is a copy, an original is an original, and words (or their omission, as the case may be) mean something.

Very good horns. However, these Bohm & Meinl-built York Master tubas aren't accurate copies of any Grand Rapids York.

It's just a name.

And before anyone asks.... I do not have an upright bell for one of these in my junk pile.

Anyone else notice the Allen wrench in the lyre holder? I'm guessing at least one of the bell screws is an Allen-head set screw.... maybe in the flange that's from an Olds or Reynolds tuba/sousa.

Just details. Probably still a good deal!
