Interesting King

Post by Dan Schultz »

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KING-1241-4-VAL ... SwFV9X0iQt

With the 1st slide on top and the curley-cue gone in the 3rd wrap... this is an early 2341. NOT a 1241 as the seller notes. Also... I've never seen one with a 25 1/2" bell. I've only seen 22" recording bells.

NOT demeaning the description. Just saying this is an 'interesting' listing. Could be a fun deal for someone.

I agree. It is longer in the throat compared to a typical King tuba detachable bell.

It's true that the tenon of a King sousa and a 124X/234X tubas are the same... about 6 5/16" diameter. The bells will fit either way. However... it's obvious that there is not enough of an angle for this to be a stock sousaphone bell. Could be some form of adulteration though.
