I don't know, it looks like mostly it would polish up like new. I'd be a little worried about the rim, though. But you wouldn't want him to polish it himself, and lose that irreplaceable "patina".

Looks like my Conn 2 up until last week. Mine was totally black. Now it looks brand new. One of my favorite mouthpieces for sure.

I decided to see what I could get it for, since I couldn't see anything that looked like real damage in all that tarnish. Made a "best offer," which was accepted.

The tarnish is off, and it isn't absolutely pristine... close, though. I've never seen a Conn 2 that looked so nearly new.

Now I've got three of these things, which is two too many.

I'm glad it cleaned up well for you. I got one a couple of months ago for a song in similar condition that cleaned up nicely. Nothing like a good bargain.
