Fred Geib- Exercises for Tuba (Volume 1)

Post by Stephen Shoop »

Hot-off-the-press and currently available on the "Auction Site." Exercises for Tuba (Volume 1) s a collection of sixteen previously-unpublished tuba studies (technical etudes) that were recently acquired from Herbert Wekselblatt (Mr. Geib's final applied tuba student in the late 1940s). The pieces date from the years 1892-1950 and are in Mr. Geib's handwritten manuscript notation. (Several are in Mr. Wekselblatt's notation). The booklet is sprial-bound. (Volume 2 is forthcoming). These are different than those contained in the Tuba Studies and Solos book currently published by Tuba-Euphonium Press.

Fred Geib was Principal Tubist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (1910-1928). He also played in the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra (1932-1947) and taught applied tuba at the Juilliard School of Music. Difficulty level ranges from medium to medium-difficult.
