That's very interesting. I wonder if it's the same as this one made by Dalyan. I don't know, but it looks very similar to me.

But considering the prices they list on the Dalyan web site, I don't know how that's possible.

Less than that. They're willing to take offers!

IT HAS 3 VALVES WITH A TOLERANCE OF .OO10". THIS INSURES USING THE LEAST AMOUNT OF AIR WHEN PLAYING.
So THAT'S what's been wrong with my York...

It has tolerances of "letter oh letter oh one zero" ? What exactly is that? A tolerance of ".10" ??

It looks similar to my Bandfolio tuba. It has rotor tolerances that are indeed exact. When I first got it, if I lubed the slides too much, I would get vacuum locks that required me to pull the slide to release it. It's cleared up now, but I can still pull a slide, wait five seconds and get a pop when the rotor is pressed. Intonation and response are fine. Brass is fairly thin so it is very light weight, but it doesn't take much to dent it and there is less fundamental to the tone. There is very little back pressure on low notes, so low notes and false tone Eb and D come right out. Main weakness is substandard lacquer; in some places hardly more than a light dusting. Vital stats on mine are: Weighs 16 pounds, .709 bore, 14.75 inch bell, approx. 39 inches tall. It's more of a 3/4 horn than 4/4.

I don't know how much of this applies to the tuba in the picture.

The location says "cleveland", but it says sales tax is charged for shipping to TX. May one assume there is a Cleveland, TX?

There is a Cleveland, TX. Also, there is a gentleman from Houston who sells many of these "low-priced" instruments, with almost all of the pictures taken outside in the grass, such as this.

So this could very well be located in Cleveland, TX, which is about an hour north of Houston (between Splendora and Livingston).

I was a band director in this area for 3 years, and some of my beginner trumpets would come to class with instruments bought from the gentleman in Houston. When I spoke with im a couple of years ago, he told me they were supposedly Jupiter instruments without the imprinting, making them cheaper.

I can tell you my tuba ain't no Jupiter, and I'm reasonably sure that the subject of this thread ain't no Jupiter either. But if somebody lives within a reasonable driving distance, and is needing an acceptable and cheap horn, it's worth making the drive to check it out.

Being the owner of a thin-ish brass tuba, one thing that has come in mighty handy is a mini Dent Eraser (sort of) using neodymium magnets from sites such as K&J Magnetics and Gaussboys.
http://www.gaussboys.com/
http://www.kjmagnetics.com/
Using a cylindrical magnet that you hold and a sphere that you throw inside the tuba, the combined strength of the two magnets (note that the sphere is also a neodymium magnet) makes for quite a force. You must put some kind of protective sheet or rag over the area of the tuba where you are going to use the magnet. It will surprise you (Indeed, it will!!) how strong these suckers are. The first few times you try, you'll probably end up letting the magnet in your hand whack the tuba and make yet another dent before you get used to the pull.

I use a 1.5" x 1.5" cylindrical

along with an assortment of balls.
