You recon it's a 'mammoth'? If it is, a 4V would be a steal at that price.

It doesn't look like the same proportions as Dan's "Mammoth"...unless the silverplate makes an instrument photograph larger.
Lew, I know it's been discussed on this BBS before, but why wouldn't a vintage sousaphone be just as good an instrument as it's orchestral tuba counterpart?

I think that this is too small to be a mammoth, especially with the 23" bell. It looks like the Martin equivalent of a Conn 40K.

I think that this horn in particular would be a good concert tuba, however given the bias against BBb horns in orchestras today and the additional preference for upright bells it seems unlikely that it would be accepted for this use in either a band or orchestra.

It looks like a good horn for doing '20s music.
