It is extremely popular among music instructors, schools, and our eBay customers.

Oh...

I thought it might be something local to the planet Melmac:

I'm wondering why these morons are calling their valve trombone a 'C' instrument. I guess they don't understand the bass/treble clef thing very well!

Well, if you look at their other auctions, there are pictures of BOTH their Bb and C trombones... which are the *same* length... (must be "close enough" for jazz!)

Take two valved trombones and two trombone players. You want to hear them play the same solo. One asks for a treble part. One asks for a bass clef part. Let's say you can barely read music but you know that All Cars Eat Gas and Every Good Boy Does Fine. But you also can't hear the difference in an E-flat and an E natural, even when the two trombone players are playing them sustained (in concert pitch). They play the solo. You don't look at the music. So you ask them, "What was your last note?"

"C," says the treble clef player.

"B-flat," says the bass clef player.

And that is how these trombones got keyed.

I hate the drivel that plays on his auctions about being "honest." He isn't a scammer but he doesn't sound like a musician, either.

Oh, the Bb valved trombone picture is probably from the same site Bloke got his C valved trombone (http://www.weril.com.br).
