I have no idea what the patent was, but I have a Leeder cornet mouthpiece (same 1896 patent quoted) that has the same profile

Am I the only one with aching lips just looking at the rim on that thing? Sheesh!

If it's like the GW mouthpieces, it isn't. The GW mouthpieces look sort of like that, and the rim (at least on the Taku) is just as thick as a regular Conn Helleberg.
