OK, I hardly ever post, but this is too cool...

Yes I know about the Marzan, and the CanadianBrass / Willson 2975 horns (I had one), but has anyone seen this instrument before??

Mustn't buy horn, mustn't buy horn...

I own one from 1931. Nickel-plated with a (non-original) upright bell. Plays okay, but a little stuffy (those twists and turns that Besson had to go through to get front valves don't do the playing characteristics any favors).

Stick with a modern one or even a 1970's 3+1 Besson. You'll like it better.

I was wondering about the response. Too bad.

I played a CanadianBrass Willson for a couple years in high school (back in the early 90's) before switching to a 3+1. The former was great for chamber music and solos, but it didn't have the upper dynamic end of a modern Yamaha, or my horn of choice, a 1973 Besson.

I'd never seen one of these, and am still trying to figure out the tubing. Still a pretty instrument.
