tuba

Post by sc_curtis »

Starting bid $3,000. No pics, and this is the only description:

"This tuba is in excellent condition."

Hmmm......Payment methods: Money order/Cashiers check and zero feedback score

Sounds fun!!!!

... and from a seller who has no feedback, too! Heck, if I'm gunna be that gullible, I'm at least going to wait for someone smart enough to STEAL an existing account!

Then again, maybe it's that Miraphone BB282-4V having serial number 9042868 engraved on bell just below the Miraphone logo that was taken from the base...

Suspicious that this might have been the stolen Miraphone from Dillon Music, I contacted the seller as soon as I noticed the listing today.

I asked about what brand it was, how many valves, if it was lacquered (thinking this might not be someone familiar with instruments I described it as "gold colored") or silver, and if there were any pictures available.

I did not ask if it was a Miraphone or for a serial number, thinking that I might come off as being too suspicious.

I just received this response to my questions:
The tuba is a Bach tuba and it has three valves it is gold and im not sure how to put any photos on but it is is in great condition.
You be the judge...

It's the first piece of merchandise this eBay user has put up. Maybe he will learn what we really want

I like that we all have officially evolved from Tubenet "Freak Jury" to the Official Tubenet CSI Team. :)

Wow...it cost him $4.80 to put up the listing. You would think he would research what tubas like this have sold for in the past before starting the bidding so high.

And I'm wondering how he's going to ship it anywhere in the country for $30 without it being damaged severely.

On a positive note, it does look like a nice little horn, just not $3000 worth of horn. Anyone confirm if the case comes with it?

This tuba is in excellant condition. It is made by bach, it has three valves and has not really been used.
Condition or not, it's not made by Bach. It's really a Yamaha (prolly YBB-105). $3K is about the discount street price of a new one.

CSI Team? They deal with dead bodies. No this tuba is alive and breathing. I go with Doc on this one... Freak Jury!
