Is this a York euphonium? The serial number is 132470. According to http://www.musictrader.com/york.html the highest serial number York produced was 112000 in 1938. This is a pretty horn. What do you guys know about it?

The 'one' in the serial number looks kinda funky. Maybe someone added the 'one' to conceal the true identity and the REAL serial number is 32470.

York was purchased by Carl Fischer in 1940, and "York" instruments continued to be made, and serial numbers continued through the 150000s.

That instrument and bell size sure look to me as though it is alto horn, however,

I'm with Mike on this one--it sure looks like an alto. Note the French-hornish looking mouthpiece--that's what you'd normally seen on a mellophone or alto of the same period.

One thing that makes me think that this isn't a Grand Rapids York (other than the logo on the bell) is the braces. York used a design with only a single ring at the end of the brace flange--these have several.

Still a pretty instrument, though.
