Is this thing an Amati with Olds engraving? Those valves scare me a bit. Anyone ever play one of these newer "Olds" tubas?

FYI... ALL of the newer 'OLDS' instruments are stencils. This sure looks like it has a German-type valveset but I don't think it's a Meinl... as is the case with many German made valve sections.

I spoke with the OLDS folks at their office in New Jersey and asked them many questions about the origin of their instruments. They didn't seem to know where they were made but very persistant about touting their 'lifetime' warranty.

I am afraid you are right. Wenn I visited the Amati factory at Krslice a few years ago, they indeed were producing "Olds" instruments (among others of course).
