... so Ebb (double-flat) = D, right? I think I remember a thread by bloke some time back about extending Eb tubas to D -- this one (apparently) is all done and ready to go!

I've noodled on a couple of these big Eb top-action Holtons and haven't found that I liked them. As odd as it seems, the low end was fairly indefinite.

Yup, to the tune of a whole $150 bid so far...this one definitely looks like a fixerupper at best.

It's not a bad looking horn. Don't be too surprised if it turns up in a Marie Callender's or TGI Friday's as a flower pot in the reception area.

The seller says ...."reconditioned as is, or it could easily be converted to a Bbb with the addition of some extra tubing."

 Probably nothing wrong with this horn that a good front-action valveset wouldn't fix but I can't imagine adding FIVE FEET of tubing to the open bugle PLUS making everying in the valve section longer!

I think I'll bid anyway. Might use the bell for something.
