I believe I can address the question of what it will do. It will make either a silver or lacquer finish instrument play entirely by itself. All the owner must do is insert the mouthpiece into the receiver. It tell you. It is simply amazing. It is worth every penny one pays for this mouthpiece.

You could get your "crappy" vintage Helleberg rebuilt by one of the restorers for less than this one will sell for and have....
a mouthpiece you could sell on ebay for $600.

A friend of mine has one and he can't shut it up. It plays the horn by itself day and night. If he takes it out, it just buzzes and buzzes all by itself. At least it's perfectly in tune and 100% accurate.
The drawback is that it only knows old solos; lots of Forest Buchtel and such. He can't play the modern stuff at all.

I have heard stories of this phenomenon, Alex. It is gratifying to have confirmation.

Wow. It's a shame he can't afford a "real" Hellenberg...

Those "real" Hellenberg mouthpieces are
better than the best tuba mouthpiece ever manufactured! I believe they are 76.2 % better than any ever produced. I can confirm this by pointing out that 76.2% of all statistics are made up.

August Helleberg's neat little mouthpiece was fun for a while, but the Hellenberg is the real deal.
If anyone knows about mouthpieces, it's Mark Hellenberg.

I had a whole group of them (pre-war) on my bench not to long back and all they wanted to do was buzz old doo-wap tunes. I must admit, the harmony was good, they were well in tune and had a nice flair in how they went about it.

Dan has just outed himself as a sadist. For him to post a picture such as the one above with all the multiple beautiful mouthpieces is simply an obscene act of sadism.
End of rant.

It merely demonstrates his perceptiveness to mouthpieces-of-color

$224.72 for a beat up mouthpiece !?
I need to go back to kollitch and get learned up on this stuff. If I get an advanced music degree will I appreciate the true value of this p.o..., er mouthpiece?

How appropriate for a member of the TNFJ. We all know how
sensitive these folks are.
