Is this a Holton or Buescher or...?
I'm thinking euph might be an easier transition for Jr. from t-bone until he's ready for a real horn - heh. Any thoughts on this one?

I am pretty sure that the Elkhart is a Conn stencil. This horn looks about identical to my 1932 Pan American. If the valves are in good shape, these are great horns.

Thanks, Doug. Anyone else have experience with this make of horn? I understand the name "Elkhart" was thrown around in various forms by several manufacturers, so Conn does not surprise me.

There were apparently more than one instrument company named "Elkhart"; the
New Langwill lists one that merged with Buescher, and one that merged with Martin.
Here is the Horn-u-copia "Elkhart" section
