Could this be an actual, honest, legitimate auction?

stolen?
Pawn shops make a good business out of selling stolen instruments. What musician in his right mind would sell this kind of horn to a pawn shop?
If it's hot and you buy it, be prepared for the day when the rightful owner tracks it down and wants if back.
Unfortunately, I speak from experience.

This is the 3rd time that I know of that the horn has been listed on Ebay, all by the same owner.
I was watching it closely - and then was surprised when it relisted - twice. I have a feeling that something is not right here. There's no way that this seller is having that kind of trouble offoading this instrument.

Bill and Brian... Why don't you pick up the phone and call the seller? I wouldn't mind knowing the complete story about this horn either. But... it's just not right to bring allegations of fraud and theft into your posts.brianggilbert wrote:This is the 3rd time that I know of that the horn has been listed on Ebay, all by the same owner.

If this the serial number is correct, this horn was made BEFORE 1988. It appears to be in good condition, but this isn't exactly the 'Holy Grail' of tubas.
FYI.... I've had widows offer me instruments and great prices and I've have folks simply bring me something to sell with the instructions of "Just get what you can for it".
Call the seller. ... and then post some facts.

Clarification - this horn WAS bidded on and won a couple of times, but the seller told me that the winners were located OUTSIDE the US. The seller mentions in the listing that re will not ship overseas for this item.
Knowing what we know about Yamaha horns and the 621 in general, if it's in good shape and repair this could be a steal for someone. If you're up in the Northeast you should go play it...
