Something seems fishy about this auction...

I saw this auction and read the page, the seller has no feedback score, is a brand new ebay member. They are only asking for 10 dollars shipping. I emailed them twice now and I have not received a response. I googled the horn and found another thread on this very board about a similar horn on ebay back in december. Here is the URL:

Buyer beware.

If you're even thinking about it, ask for a explanation, ask for addition pictures, ask for the serial number, ask if you can come play it.

Ask until you're satisfied, and then maybe ask some more. If it's legitimate, you want to feel REAL GOOD about it before you jump in!

Let me know if you get a response, because I sure haven't gotten one.

If this is a fraud, it will seriously be like the 5th time in the last month that i have run into something like it. Do these crooks think tuba players are idiots!?! Ugh... I wonder if buyers of other expensive instruments have this many people trying to rip them off?

YES! We succeeded in foiling their evil plan to steal from one of our brethren!!! Maybe they should try getting a real job and earning money legally.

Would still love to. I'll bet it would make a good bed time story to tell the kiddies

Agreed. It's unfortunate there's not an easy way to prosecute these scuzballs for fraud.

In the early days of eBay, it was much easier to be a seller. Now, there is so much suspicion of fraud the whole activity of selling there has almost become "not worth it."

FWIW, more often than not, it's not the seller who's a scum...it's the person who pirated, hacked and is using that seller's account. I know from experience on that score.

A big thank you to Sean for not shutting down this thread. I believe reporting and informing our community about these scams is a good thing. How can it not be? If you've changed your policy on that, good for you! If not....never mine...move along...nothing to see here...

He tried it in Bloomington, as well...I hope you have success finding and prosecuting this person.

Wow, no doubt this is the same exact wording and pictures I saw on ebay... The thing is, these people probably live in another country and don't even speak english. They probably have no idea what this ad says. It's obviously just a cut and paste.

That poor tuba. It's mug has been all across the internet to deceive people for dishonest gain. I hope wherever it really is, it has a happy home and a player that takes care of it.

I guess that craigslist sale has been taken down now, too!
