TWO LESSONS LEARNED ON eBay IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS

1. When you log into eBay. YOU MUST ALWAYS USE THE SAME COMPUTER. If you log into it with more than one computer, they have software that detects it, and your account will be suspended. I haven't been able to buy anything on my account loyaltubist for several months because of this.
2. My PayPal account was hacked into last month. I canceled the bank account that fed into it. But I had $30 in a PayPal interest bearing account. The hacker bought $42.50 worth of tickets on some game site. When I received the e-mail stating that I had purchased game tickets on a gaming site, I thought it was a joke. I've gotten those before. Then I started getting e-mails from PayPal. I wrote to the game site and I don't think they really cared about what they had done. Anyway, eBay told me they wanted the money to come from my bank account, which hadn't been active in over a year.
The two lessons I learned were:
1. With eBay, use only one computer.
2. With PayPal, keep your bank account open (find a bank that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg to keep it open!)

I will NEVER use my bank account with Paypal for these reasons. Credit Card only. I don't sell so it isn't an issue.

If they were charged to your account, you should at least be able to find out which event and seats they are for. Have someone show up at the game, find those seats, and give them the welcome they've got coming to them. If the hacker resold the tickets... then they still deserve it for doing business with low-lifes like that!

They were online games, not events... the kind you either play at home or, here in Vietnam, in an Internet cafe. The thief bought enough tickets for these games to last an average person ten weeks.

Something else must be an issue, because I have logged on and bid on items from more than one computer. In fact, I log on to ebay 5 days a week from 2 differnt computers. I have even bid on and won items at work and at home.

Same here...I often browse items at my work machine and sometimes bid. Can't be a "rule" of eBay.

It was explained to me (by eBay) that if you use more than one computer, they will try to contact you by phone. Since I am in Vietnam, they weren't too forgiving in this whole matter.
I found this on the eBay site:

I guess they didn't need to call me because of this from the posted forum:
Also if you use 2 or 3 computers regularly as I do the ISP addresses are on file.(also per ebay rep)
Just add your cell number, just in case.

See? I'm in Vietnam. They won't call outside a certain area. I was going to get a VoIP phone line with a Las Vegas (or Henderson) phone number but, unfortunately, my Las Vegas mailing address was cut off in January.
