Someone should notify BHS near Pentwater, MI (Baldwin? Big Rapids?) that tuba number 51 is being sold on eBay. Nice of them to leave the school's inventory number (painted in white) on the case like that.

Definitely possible, but it doesn't look to me like it has been a school horn for as long as the horn has been around. (Even if the seller's 1960-61 estimate isn't accurate, it isn't a very new instrument.)
Obviously it was a school instrument at some point in its history - probably something worth giving the seller the opportunity to comment on before the auction ends.
