Why wouldn't you just buy a 2280?

The photo for the horns are taken from perspectives of above and below the bell, so one just looks longer. The 4th valve tubing makes that horn's bore profile look unnaturally wide.

i once saw a horn with the funny 4th valve just like the ebay horn....

I fail to see what's "funny" about the 4th valve. It looks pretty standard to me for a 4 valve front action non-comp.

I have one of these, it is a nice horn but is no longer in vogue because of the small bore (.562). This horn is still made by King and called a baritone, whereas their 2280 with top action valves and bore .580 is called a euphonium. Both have 11 inch upright bells.

Of course not! I was merely quoting what King calls these horns in their catalog.

the reason i called it funny (besides the OP mentioning it) is because the horn i saw looked strange. the 3 main valves were all aligned like you would expect, and the 4th valve was at an angle and physically lower then the other 3.

The placement of the 4th valve is typical due to your little finger being shorter.
Still not funny IMO. It is the way it should be.
