Pretty neat big ol' horn. Let's see how much it goes for!

Re: Conn Front Action Tuba (36J?)
My bet is also on the 36J. I own one from 1930 (with 36J engraved on the body and bell) and the only "visible" difference I can see is in the 3rd valve wrap. My 3rd valve is longer at the bottom but the top loop is shorter. Logical. For the rest they are quite identical. I might also add that the 36J's I've seen in old Conn ad's look more like this one.
So what was first, the chicken or the egg? Maybe the tuba design was first and then a couple years later the label "36J" was designated.

Does anyone know if the bell collar on this horn would accept a bell from a 20J or 24J?

As far as I know the 36J is the same as a 20/24J in bore size. I would assume that the collar would be as well. My 36J has the same collar as a 20K and a 40K. (I did some swap tests). Though smaller bored than the 36J, the collars were the same.
