he is a friend of mine. he felt that it was going to cost way to much to fix it up to sell it. so he figured some one could fix up their horn using these parts. he will have the valves from it up there soon too. i almost cried when he told me he was going to part it out. but it would have costed at least 1500 to fix it up just to make it playable and replace the bell.

How much $$ did he already have in that tuba? $1500 is a decent repair bill for sure, but just wondering how far 'over the limit' it would have put him.
To each his own, but I'm wondering if this would have been more of a market for a project horn than a parts bin. Even Baltimore Brass now has a Miraphone 187 listed *cheap* and as a "repairman's special."

The horn is question is a Mirafone 184. There are virtually no used parts around for these horns (except for this one!). The only option would be to buy new parts. The bell along is $900 (or more depending on who you talk to).
I'm wondering how many bidders think these parts will work on a 186.

well i got the horn as payment for fixing an old conn BBb helicon. i thought i was going to be able to fix it then play it or sell it. but i couldn't find a used or new tone ring. and a new bell with ring would of cost me with out shipping about 1000. then it was going to need a new valve which is about 200. (all numbers are rounded off of course) then i would have to add my time of fixing it up. i hated to part with it but you can't hold to everything. i traded it with him for a bunch of used student instruments that i am hoping to fix up then sell.
i hope people do not think they can use the parts for the 186. but heck you never know they just might work. unlikely but you never know.
