Wow,
I don't think I have ever heard need, contrabass trombone and cimbasso all in one sentence. Which ones are you getting?
Kanstul make a killer contra (I have one) and the valves setup is the same as a bass trombone and Sam Gnagey makes a great cimbasso (and great tubas for that matter)
good luck on selling your horn and getting new stuff.

I want t G&P cimbasso, or anold Kalison if I can find one once I have the funds together... and yes ... that Kanstul Cotrabass trombone is ... FREEKIN PIMP!!! I tried the BBb Miraphone, and it played like a piece of junk compared to the Kanstul. I tried the Haag cimbasso ... and it was a very good horn for projection and stuff, but it just didn't have the capacity to move as much air as I would like to ... I think the G&P will most likely be my instrument of choice, that is if I don't find a Pre-Nirschl takeover Kalison cimbasso prior to purchasing one. :tuba:

holy crap that is tommy johnson ... you pwned me ... I don't know ... I still think the F contra has a superior sound and would fit me better since F slide positions are not an issue for me.

Couple things...

I will say, the Miraphone is a different beast, assuredly. But it is a true contra, and I've never met a tubist who owned one who wasn't principally a trombonist. I'm in the process of making my second BBb contra for a trombonist. While there are some tubists who obviously do like the BBb, they do so - I imagine - because they won't play the F on it's terms, on it's mouthpiece. But I've found many bass boners who like the price and the sound of BBb instruments, as well as the familiar slide positions and slide position distances (flying around f positions without a handle sucks big time!).

In general, I'm pro-BBb. You have to get used to them, but the price is right, and they can sound awesome! I play F since... it's easier for me to make and to play rapidly. In an ideal world, I'd probably have a Kanstul/G&P Cimbasso (wonderful axes!) in F and a Miraphone BBb contra. Instead, I play a very large F contra for both uses. I'm too poor to go shopping right now :-P

Can't endorse the Kalison Cimbasso enough - great instrument design. I hear, however, that the CC is garbage.
