New Model to me...

Looks like the 2J's bigger cousin.

Chop job anyone?

Except for the top bend in the 3rd valve tubing, this horn is virtually identical to my Olds O-99. Buy it cheap, send it to Memphus to have it blokerized and you would have a nice little BBb.

I'm not sure it would stay a BBb for very long in my shop ;-)

My understanding is that the 4J was the BBb predecessor to the 5J, the same way the 2J was the CC predecessor to the 3J. (Only difference was they stopped making the 3J, but never stopped making the 5J).

Someone let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

Because used 2J and 3J CC horns are not too tough to come across for reasonable prices, I would think this 4J to be a very poor candidate for a chop job.

Not if you are doing the work yourself... ')

I saw that too (probable cracking)...

The reason for the chop is mostly... well... I wouldn't dare customize a 2J. But I can fiddle with something like this and if I don't like it for myself, I can just hock it and there's little loss except time.

I like to play; it's not all about profit ;-)

Looks like it sold for $635, reasonable price, considering the condition. If the valves didn't have to be redone someone got a good small BBb for $1000+-.
