I talked with Warren about his mouthpiece when he was through Vegas back in the 90's and he told me That while he was a tester at a factory in NY he was having to test everything out with a 24AW and he told the owner guy/craftsman that he couldn't get enough of his face into the mouthpiece to make a good sound, so the guy bored it out to an 18 rim diameter. Then years later while having to play on one of those nasty conn 5j instruments he wasn't happy with the response, so he took a 3/8" drill and bored it out. The rest is Orfeo and heavy wall etc.
