He didn't mention the 4th valve. I wonder if it's even there!
At any rate... It's certainly not a compensating horn.
Taking a 2nd and 3rd look.... I'm not sure it's even a tuba. That 2nd valve circuit appears to be too short. I'm thinking it's really a barf-ony-em.

I was in contact with the seller. She is a widow, selling some things from her husband's estate. I'm not sure why you doubt whether there's a fourth valve there. It's in all the pictures. This looks to be an extremely small band type tuba. Anyway, I don't see the need to be so uncomplimentary about the items put up by people who may be well-intentioned and not so knowledgable as you. Bad intentions are quite easy to spot, for example the Alex 163 at $2000. John

What I was alluding to was the fact that the 4th
PISTON could not be seen in the earlier pictures even though the casing was visible. Finding pistons and valve caps for these horns can be a real nightmare. I always try to give the sellers a benefit of the doubt... because in many cases, they don't have a clue what they are selling until prompted by a few questions. Generally, these discussions are good.
